Employability, Enterprise and Re-use

EMPLOYABILITY

Just 36% of people leaving prison go into education, training or employment

We run a 16 week voluntary work placement for those with major barriers to employment – be that due to offending, addiction, homelessness or mental health issues. The majority of offenders (97%) expressed a desire to stop offending. When asked which factors would be important in stopping them from reoffending in the future, the majority gave importance primarily to ‘having a job’ (68%), however half of all prisoners do not have the skills required by 96% of jobs and only one in five are able to complete a job application form. The program tackles these barriers providing work place experience and training within a growing enterprise.

ENTERPRISE and RE-USE

10 million items of furniture are thrown away by UK households every year

We run a growing furniture re-use enterprise, collecting high quality unwanted furniture from homes throughout London and  putting it back into the community and away from landfill.
