I have considered the possibility of fostering and adoption for most of my adult life, I assume it would be something that i would do within a marriage and alongside someone else.

So when i found myself single and forty I had assumed that those options were being ruled out for me as was the opportunity of having a biological baby of my own.  A couple of months later I attended the Radical Hospitality evening hosted at WWT. It wasn't explained but the title kinda grabbed me and I went along thinking if I am not going to be a mother then i could use my talents in another way!

It was an amazing evening with lots of talks and varying ways of becoming involved with different levels of commitment. Every speaker was very open and honest giving the pro and the cons of each option.

I learnt that I could adopt as a single woman and my age wasn’t a factor.  In April I started the assessment process and while it is very early days Everyone i have told of my decision has been hugely supportive and I feel I can answer honestly when asked by a social worker that I have a robust network around me and look forward to raising my family within HTB!
